Неделя в гората: грижа за фиданките край хижа „Алеко“

On a quiet Sunday, Surya Foundation returned to the foot of Vitosha, near Aleko Hut, to keep caring for the saplings planted earlier in the year. This time the focus was on loosening the soil and clearing the grass around the young trees — an important step in getting them ready for winter.
Tall grass around the saplings holds the weight of the snow and can snap or damage the young stems. That's why our volunteers got stuck into the clean-up, giving the trees more light, more space and a better chance of making it through the cold months.
Volunteers from Appfire and long-time friends of ours joined the action, once again showing dedication and real commitment to the cause. Small in number, but tight-knit, the group worked together with a clear sense of why every bit of effort matters.
Initiatives like this remind us that caring for nature isn't a one-off act — it's a process that takes time, attention and consistency. With every action like this one, the forest on Vitosha grows not just with new trees, but with people who genuinely care for them.
Surya Foundation thanks all the volunteers for the time, hard work and good spirits that turned this Sunday into another step towards a greener, more sustainable Vitosha.
