New life for the city's green spaces: tree planting in the Hadzhi Dimitar district

On 17 October 2024, SURYA Foundation, with the support of our partners Health for Wealth, ran a successful initiative to plant 15 trees in the small park behind block 87, tucked between three large residential blocks in the Hadzhi Dimitar district. The action was made possible by the volunteers who threw themselves into the project, and by the cooperation of the Poduyane district within Sofia Municipality. The trees — catalpas, horse chestnuts and sycamores among them — won't just make the neighbourhood more beautiful; they'll also bring cleaner air and a greener urban environment for the people who live there. The planting went smoothly, and every tree was carefully watered to give it a strong start in its new life. A huge thank-you to Nikolay Grozdanov, who generously provided his digger free of charge and dug the holes for the trees, making the planting so much easier. His help was key to making this initiative happen.
