Cleaning up South Park with Appfire Bulgaria — another step towards a greener Sofia

On 17 October (Friday) we ran a joint volunteer action with our gold sponsors and friends from Appfire Bulgaria, devoted to cleaning up South Park.
With the support of the Green Systems Directorate at Sofia Municipality, our team got stuck into clearing the paths around "Compass Hill", where together we took down hanging dry branches and fallen trees that were blocking access and littering the area.
Our 11 good-doers split into groups — some collected and hauled away the cut branches and trunks, while the rest picked up rubbish from the lawns, the little groves and around the playground. Even the toughest, most overgrown slopes didn't get left behind.
All the waste was collected and sorted, and anything suitable for recycling went to the right place. The tally for the day: 30 full sacks of rubbish and three small truckloads of branches and trunks, plus a successful clean-up of an illegal dump site that had been flagged by a public complaint.
A huge thank-you to the Appfire Bulgaria team for the enthusiasm, the wholehearted work and the constant support they show for our causes. Together, we're proving that good deeds are contagious when they're done with a smile and a shared mission.
