Access to care: buying a specialised minibus for children and young people with disabilities in Cherven Bryag

Surya Foundation is running a campaign to buy a specialised minibus for the family-type care home for children and young people with disabilities in Cherven Bryag. The campaign focuses on providing safe and accessible transport for children and young people for whom getting around outside the home isn't a given.

In a small town like Cherven Bryag, the lack of specialised transport seriously limits access to medical services, therapies, education and rehab activities outside the town. As a result, some of the children and young people can't take part fully in activities that are key to their development and health.
With this campaign we aim to provide a vehicle that truly meets the needs of everyone at the home and makes daily life easier for the team that cares for them.

The funds raised will go towards a specialised minibus, designed entirely around the needs of the family-type care home in Cherven Bryag, fit for daily use and equipped with:
eight seats;
a dedicated space for wheelchairs;
a ramp for safe getting on and off.
This way we'll ensure safe and comfortable travel for all children and young people, including those with limited mobility. The minibus will be used for visits to doctors and therapists, for educational and rehab activities, and for social and cultural outings beyond the town.

Because access to care starts with being able to get to it.
Right now, the lack of dedicated transport limits the chance for all children and young people to take part equally in the activities that are part of their support and development. That creates extra difficulties both for them and for the home's team.
Providing a minibus will bring more security, predictability and peace of mind to daily life. It's an important step towards a more dignified and fuller life for the children and young people with disabilities in Cherven Bryag.

The family-type care home for children and young people with disabilities in Cherven Bryag provides a family-like, supportive environment for children and young people with different types and degrees of disability. The team works every day on developing social skills, independence and active participation in the community.
The lack of dedicated transport currently limits the chances of fully including everyone in planned activities.
