About this cause

With the "Summer with a cause — sunshine for every child 2026" campaign, Surya Foundation aims to raise funds to give a proper summer holiday to 40 children and young people without parental care from four social services in Bulgaria.

two Transitional homes for young people aged 15 to 18 from Vratsa;
two Family-type care homes for children and young people aged 3 to 18 from Vratsa and Samokov.
Accommodation and meals for the children are already covered. The funds we're raising through this campaign will go towards:
transport to the holiday destination and back;
access to cultural and entertainment activities like museum visits, themed programmes, water parks and more;
pocket money for the children — for those small but priceless summer joys like an ice cream on the beach, a slice of watermelon, boiled corn or a refreshing drink.

Even though they live in different social services and even different cities, these children have already built real friendships. Over the past few years they've been spending their summer holidays together, creating bonds, memories and a sense of belonging.
What happens during these days together is much more than the sea, games and walks.
The older young people naturally take care of the younger ones — supporting them, looking out for them, setting an example. The little ones in turn learn trust, respect and how to connect. This creates an environment where the children don't just rest, but learn how to be a community, to be responsible and, of course, to care for one another.

For children growing up outside a family setting, experiences like these mean a huge amount. Summer trips and shared activities give them the chance:
To feel the normality of childhood. To live those small moments that are natural for many children — playing on the beach, laughing with friends, picking out a favourite ice cream.
To build social skills. Through connecting, sharing, joint activities and new experiences, the children develop confidence, independence and the ability to form healthy relationships.
To widen their world. Visits to cultural and entertainment events and new places are a dream come true that nurtures their curiosity, broadens their knowledge and inspires them.
To build a sense of belonging. When they spend time together, they don't feel alone. They build friendships, trust and a community that's always there to help.
To believe in themselves and in good. When someone invests in their happiness, they start to believe they're valued, that they matter and that the world can be a place full of care.
Last year Surya Foundation supported this initiative together with the Bulgarian Yoga Association — an organisation that has been carrying this cause for many years. This year we're continuing with even more belief and dedication, because we see the real change these days bring to the children's lives. Give them a summer. Give them a memory.
