About this cause
This campaign aims to raise funds to organise the second workshop of the long-term project "My Life in My Hands" — an initiative that helps young people without parental care build the social, emotional and practical skills that help them be more confident, independent and prepared for life beyond the social services.
Growing up without parental support means much more than not having a home. It means stepping into life early, often unprepared, with no safe support and no one to show you how to handle emotions, choices, responsibilities and mistakes.
The project is a series of hands-on workshops organised by Surya Foundation that help young people build the skills they need to live fully and independently — skills without which it's incredibly hard to make it on your own.
The topics we work on include:
managing and recognising emotions;
honest and clear communication;
building healthy boundaries;
handling conflict;
the basics of personal finance;
organising time and responsibilities;
how to act in professional and social settings.
The approach is entirely practical and experiential — through exercises, conversations, role-play and group work.
With the funds raised, we'll organise a second three-day workshop for 16 young people aged 15 to 18.
The funds will go towards:
accommodation and meals;
working with specialists;
transport and logistics;
venue rental;
materials and hands-on activities.
The workshop will build on the first and include new topics and exercises focused on deeper awareness and applying what they've learned.
The first workshop of the project ran in October 2025 with 12 young people from transitional homes in Vratsa.
Over three days they worked on topics around emotional regulation and positive communication. Trust gradually built up — many of the participants shared personal experiences and got actively involved in the process. The feedback showed that for them this wasn't just training, but the first space where they'd felt heard, accepted and understood.
Supporting young people without parental care can't be a one-off act. Building life skills takes time, repetition and a safe environment where they can try, fail and learn. The second workshop is an important step towards:
reinforcing what's already been learned
including new participants
building a sustainable model for working with young people in transition
With your support we'll:
provide a second full workshop for young people without parental care;
build on the training with new practical skills;
create a stable foundation for the project's next modules;
give young people tools they can really use in their lives.
Administrative fee: 7% of the donated amount goes towards covering Surya Foundation's administrative costs, which ensure the effective management and transparency of the campaign.
