Charity campaign to renovate the Family-type care home for children and young people with disabilities in Cherven Bryag

About this cause

The Family-type care home for children and people with disabilities in Cherven Bryag is a place that provides a home, safety, guaranteed access to specialised health, education, social and other services, and individualised care and support tailored to the residents' needs.

The home in Cherven Bryag currently has 13 children and adults with severe physical, mental and intellectual disabilities aged between 13 and 38. The centre has capacity for 14 and operates as a state-delegated activity under Cherven Bryag Municipality. Management of the residential service is moving from a private provider (2016–2021) to Cherven Bryag Municipality.
Between 2021 and 2024, significant improvements to the building have been recorded — sewer branches have been repaired, flooring replaced, doors and shutters fixed and more — but because of the nature of the service, urgent ongoing repairs are still needed.
Naturally, the immediate needs of the residents are the priority, and this leads to delays in carrying out the renovation programme. The nature of the service and the residents' behavioural challenges mean that walls, floors and furniture get damaged and dirty more often.

What's needed right now?
Repainting the rooms with washable latex paint, suitable for the residents' specific needs.
Securing corners with edge protectors to prevent possible injuries.
Replacing the laminate flooring in one of the rooms, which is already visibly damaged.
