A home with dignity: campaign to renovate the Sheltered home in Strazhitsa

About this cause

Surya Foundation is launching a new campaign in support of a special place — the Sheltered home for people with intellectual disabilities in Strazhitsa, where 8 young people have found their home — 5 girls and 3 boys. They live together, share daily life and, with the team's help, learn independence, communication and self-care.

Together — our team and volunteers — we'll transform the space these young people call home. Coming up:
Repainting the walls in the residents' rooms
Replacing the laminate flooring in their rooms — for more comfort and better hygiene;
Renovating the kitchen area — fresh paint, replacing the old cupboards and adding a kitchen island that will make the kitchen more functional and turn it into a space for work therapy through cooking;
Buying new appliances needed for daily life and therapy activities:
an upright freezer for proper food storage,
a new cooker,
a bread maker,
and other small but important kitchen appliances.

Because we believe every person has the right to a dignified life, no matter the challenges they face. The space we live in shapes our mood, self-confidence and ability to grow. Our goal is to create an environment that encourages independence, confidence and the desire to learn through practical skills.
How can you help?

By becoming a volunteer and joining the renovation work on site;
By sharing the campaign with people who would support the cause.
